9/2/10
Brothers,
I’m reaching out to you in hopes you’ll support House
Corporation’s 2010 Annual Giving campaign.
The single goal of
this “annual” giving campaign is to grow and sustain Alpha Gamma’s
membership.
With the annual gifts of this campaign and future
campaigns, House Corporation will have a significantly improved ability
to care for and upgrade the 55-year-old Chapter house.
The
belief is that a better house and a better living experience will be
much more appealing to active and potential brothers and consequently:
- Membership
will grow;
- Membership will be more easily sustained; and
- It
will allow House Corporation to drive higher rents.
Other
chapters, namely the Betas, have institutionalized (in other words,
their alums are in the habit of giving to) this type of annual campaign
over the past decades, which has kept them competitive and sustained
their membership. It’s rumored they continually raise at least $30,000
per year.
The goal for ’10 is to raise $20,000. If 200 brothers
donate $100 per year, we’ll be able to have a meaningful impact. Looking
into ’11 and ’12 our hope is we will:
- Develop an Annual
Giving Campaign Advisory Board to further clarify the annual giving’s
exact goals;
- Broaden the campaign by hiring outside
professional resources to bring alum and actives closer together through
annual giving; and
- Ultimately sustain giving of at least
$30,000 per year.
This campaign began last year with T.A. Ward
and Dirk Greene’s informal appeal. From that 45-day grass-roots appeal,
56 brothers donated and House Corporation raised $7,394.59
($132/brother), which they immediately used to:
- Convert
the old upstairs Study Room into a rent-producing room by remodeling and
adding closets; and
- Improve “Ground Zero” and bring it
into City of Columbus Compliance, as well as, a shower and closets were
added.
The list of brothers who generously gave to House
Corporation's 2009 Annual Campaign is listed below. Thank you again.
So,
please consider giving to this effort now and into the future. Alpha
Gamma gave me a great deal and I’m sure you feel the same way.
Please
consider giving by either by:

| Dear
Alpha
Gamma Alumni Brothers
I hope this
long overdue
update finds you all well!
House
Corporation
would like to give you a quick “what’s happening” with the Chapter and
itself.
- During the
2009-2010
school year the Chapter initiated 40 highly qualified young men pushing
membership above 80 for the first time in many years.
- The
Chapter will
be delivering its first serious application for a Peterson Award since
the early 1990’s.
- House
Corporation
continues its aggressive pay down of debt. Barring unforeseen
repair/maintenance
issues we anticipate reducing debt by some $40,000.00 during our
upcoming
fiscal year. Our goal is to be debt free by October, 2013.
- With the
help of
Jim Smiley (Chapter Adviser) and Tim Michael (Recruitment Adviser) we
have
initiated a mentoring program pairing the Chapter’s Executive Officers
with distinguished alumni who wish to be involved with young brothers at
a “one on one” level.
- House Corporation
was able
to budget for the purchase of a full compliment of tables and chairs for
the Chapter. Consequently, they have brought back formal Monday night
dinner, and were able to host their first Derby Darling Dinner in almost
a decade.
- Our
“Annual Giving
Campaign” that started fall of 2009 raised almost $7,500.00 to tackle
maintenance issues and summer projects on our beloved 55 year old
chapter
house. Matt Berry has graciously volunteered to organize and take
the Annual Giving Campaign to the next level. Our goal is to raise
$20,000.00 this school year.
House
Corporation is constantly in need of additional volunteers so please
consider
getting involved with your Alpha Gamma Chapter that has continuously
operated
at OSU for the past 128 years.
Mark your
callWe also
encourage you to attend the 2010 Homecoming Dinner being held at either
the Scioto Country Club or the new Student Union on Friday, October 22nd.
Please take this opportunity to learn first hand what is going on
and capitalize on sharing your experiences with our young brothers.
